Tooth loss doesn’t have to be permanent. Modern dentistry offers numerous ways to replace lost teeth, one of the most popular being implant treatment. You can obtain dental implants for missing teeth at Desert Creek Dental in Queen Creek, Arizona. Dr. Ismail Pardazi answers your questions about implants here to help you decide if they’re right for you.
Implants are small titanium posts that replace tooth roots to support replacement teeth when natural teeth are missing.Â
Dr. Pardazi works closely with selected oral surgeons who surgically place implants in the jawbone where teeth are missing. We’ll then wait four to six months for the implants to fuse with the surrounding bone tissue and heal. Once the fusing process is complete, we’ll attach abutments to connect the implants to your new teeth. Lastly, we’ll attach a crown, denture, or bridge to the abutments to complete your smile.  Â

Most people who are in good health and have good oral and jawbone health qualify for dental implants. Problems with bone loss can often be remedied with a bone graft to make you eligible for this treatment. Good bone volume is needed for successful osseointegration (fusion) with your jawbone to secure the implants permanently.Â
Â
Traditional dentures only replace the crown (top part) of your tooth. Implants replace your entire tooth, roots and all! Whereas traditional dentures can come loose over time, implant teeth remain stable and secure.
Implant restorations look exactly like natural teeth and complement your real teeth beautifully. They also function like natural teeth for biting and chewing, allowing you to eat a wider variety of foods.
Traditional dentures are removed for soaking and cleaning. Implant teeth are permanent fixtures that are brushed and flossed like natural teeth. With good oral care, your implant restorations can last up to 20 years! In contrast, dentures often need to be replaced every 5 to 10 years.
Â
You can replace as many missing teeth as you want with implants, including your whole smile! Dental crowns are paired with single implants to replace individual missing teeth. A fixed bridge can replace three to four missing teeth in a row, and implant dentures can replace an entire arch or all your teeth, when needed. Â
Implant surgery is conducted under anesthesia to ensure a pain-free experience. Any gum soreness or discomfort after the anesthesia wears off can be alleviated with ice packs or over-the-counter pain medication.
